In a little town called Barga, close to the famed wall city, Lucca, is the beautiful Renaissance Tuscany property. Only a couple hours from Florence, it makes for a perfect weekend trip.

The Renaissance Room

We were given a lovely King suite as an upgrade after requesting during mobile check-in on the app. As we paid for the room rather than using points, our breakfast was included in the rate. Instead, we were given 1,000 points as our welcome amenity.

We were also welcomed with macarons in the room, which was a nice touch (even if they didn’t compete with the French variety!)

The Tuscan Pool

The pool overlooks the hills of Tuscany, and as were traveling during COVID, the hotel was fairly empty so it was quiet and there was plenty of available space.

We enjoyed a nice dinner which has views of the pool, and of course the hills also.

The Renaissance Breakfast

It’s not possible to give the breakfast a fair assessment, as again, we were there during COVID and they did what they could with the restrictions. I think many hotels are doing the best they can to get by in this period so I will not fault them for a lackluster breakfast. When we had visited previously, the breakfast was certainly more enjoyable.

The Check-Out

We did receive a late check-out, though one of the front desk associates was not the most helpful when my room card stopped working at noon. Alas, we got it sorted out and were allowed to stay until 4pm.

The Location in Tuscany

The scenery is quite beautiful and there are many things to eat, see and do nearby in normal times. It is a property where you would want a car to get around. Given its proximity to Lucca, it would be a perfect full or half day trip to explore the city and rent bikes to ride around the wall.

Overall, I highly recommend this Renaissance property for a nice, peaceful retreat in Tuscany, and will certainly return when things have normalized a bit!
